VGC 101: Teaching newcomers the official metagame!

man, I need to start getting into these VGC's. but every day my free time seems to diminish.


I wonder when the next one nearest to me will happen...

Usually the regional championships are on in many towns in the US. That'll be your best shot

is there some kind of ZIP code finder for it, or something related closely to a search for nearest location?

I think there's a finder on the official pokemon website (Play! Pokemon event finder). Mind you, won't be regionals 'til next year.

mind going a bit more in depth about that.

Hey Nooga i have to say something,while reading your first post on this topic i read something like that:the IVs and EVs of a lvl 100 pokemon are halved because it level is automatically set to 50.I have to say no becasue i did that:i own a chandelure lvl  100 with 252 Evs on sp.att modest nature and 31 Ivs on sp.att so i entered a normal link battle and its level went down to 50,then i saw its sp.att stat was 216 so i opened the editor here and did:chandelure,modest nature,31 Ivs on sp.att and 252 Evs on sp.att,also i set its leve to 50.And its sp.att was 216 like of that i used on just a normal link battle!tell me if i said something wrong or missed something

Basically how it works is that at level 50:


31 IV = 15.5 stat points


4 EVs = 0.5 stat points


The actual IVs and EVs are not halved, but the stat point values are. Hope this makes more sense!
