Games on Modded 3ds

So I just recently purchased a modded n3ds from here and I want to use the feature that was mentioned in the description about saving the games to the 3ds so I don't need to have all my game cartridges. I would also like to understand how this works so I can figure out how to modify ds pokemon games (I'm currently using the homebrew to live-patch omega ruby to randomize the pokemon). I want to do this with ds games but I'm not sure how to do that (GBA games should be simple enough because there's the emulator for them and I can just dump the ROM in the folder and run them, but I've heard that NDS emulators suck on 3ds).

The feature is also just really cool. I apologize if there are posts that explain this, I haven't been able to find them (or where any explanations of this were on the website). I would also appreciate any other pointers on using the system to its fullest, and if there are more guides on the website I'd love to be re-directed to them.
